Karen’s RIE Parent - Infant Guidance Classes span 1 ½ hours and offer individualized attention to both parents and babies, from 2 months-2 ½ years old. Sensitive observation of the babies at play is followed by questions and discussion to help you learn about:
- Respecting and enjoying the individuality of each baby.
- Trusting your child to be an initiator, an explorer and a self-learner.
- Providing a safe, challenging and emotionally nurturing environment.
- Acknowledging and respecting your baby’s feelings and your own.
- Consistent, clearly defined limits and expectations to develop discipline.
The goals and objectives of Karen's RIE Parent-Infant Guidance Classes are:
- To present the philosophy gradually by practical demonstration and discussion.
- To model behavior and attitudes that we consider desirable.
- To help the parent develop powers of observation necessary to see and understand what their baby is doing and how he is learning as he plays.
- To assist on a practical and philosophical level as the parents grow into their role.
- To encourage the valuable exchange of ideas and information among parents.
Classes take place in eight-week sessions and are limited to seven infants and their parents.
